Assignment 1: the Photoshop workspace, layers palette and selection tools
Your first assignment will be to create three to five “Frankenstein” animal-monsters with these images. So that means three to five separate files each with a separate composition. Basically cut, paste and college these animals together to create something completely different. Be sure you know how to create a new document. Your document size will be 8.5 x 11 inches (letter size) with a resolution of 300 dpi and in RGB color mode.
The following tutorials will briefly discuss basic collage techniques in Photoshop for absolute beginners. We are simply going to focus on cutting and pasting, with the added Photoshop power of duplicating, resizing, rotating and flipping layers. While this project probably won’t be a masterpiece, the intent of this is to have you focus on the Photoshop layers palette and the primary selection tools. But still, have fun with it. This is exercise but creativity will be noted.
