About Adam Leviton

I am currently located in Frederick, MD 21701.

Philosophy

There are many different designers out there with many different ideas and beliefs. I believe that form follows function and that design decisions should be based around the behavior of your target audience. It’s not all about making things look pretty; my goal is to effectively communicate your messages to your clients and increase your sales and/or marketing statistics. I take a very clean, simple and straightforward approach to design because it’s faster to develop and easier to maintain, which means lower costs and faster turnaround time. Be sure to take a minute and view my portfolio.

Past and Present Clients

I have my own clients, have done some pro-bono work, have worked full time at a few places and sometimes other design firms will outsource work to me. Here is a quick sample of projects I have been involved with:

My Education and Experience

I spent four years at Carroll Community College earning two associate degrees in print design and web design. This was time well spent in getting a solid background with the software I use. I then went to Shepherd University to earn a bachelor’s degree. With my software training nearly complete, I was able to focus on studying aesthetics and style while at Shepherd.

Also during this time, I briefly worked on a project with an old-school ad-man who worked for Ogilvy in the 70′s (reminiscent of a character straight out of the TV show Mad Men). Prior to graduating, I had already landed a job as a Senior Graphic Designer for Hood College and from there I got to learn first hand how a marketing department in a large organization works.

Outside of Hood, I was briefly a part of a small technology start-up, and was able to gain some amazing wisdom from the brilliant CTO (who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence, just to give you an idea).

My Day Job

Currently I work for a regional home builder and handle the development of all their print, web, video and photography needs. I work directly for the Vice President in charge of Sales and Marketing. We collaborate on the strategy of our projects, and then I build them with the help of my trusty intern.

Things I Can Help You With

My Teaching Experience

Since I am a teacher, I am very patient and willing to explain things to clients. I currently teach Digital Illustration at Hood College, Web Design at Frederick Community College, turned down Shepherd University (excellent design program, but too far of a drive) and was invited to apply for an opening at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).

Any Questions?

My consultation is always free whether you are a student, potential client or colleague in my field. When you want me to build something for you, then we’ll talk dollars and cents.

I would also love to hear from potential employers and other freelancers or small firms looking to partner up. Please contact me with any questions.
